Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated Western Region Dry Bean Seed & Commercial Manager, who will be responsible for leading day-to-day origination and commercial strategy and execution of the ADM Seedwest and the ADM commercial dry bean businesses in the western region. The geography primarily includes Idaho, Wyoming, and Washington. This role works closely with origination, seed breeding, quality, commercial, manufacturing, and other third parties to originate, process, sell, and articulate dry bean business needs to maximize origination and market share for ADM edible bean specialties. The successful candidate will be a strong leader, have an owner's mindset, not be afraid to challenge the status quo and manage change, and be willing to assist as needed to fulfill the goal of superior customer service from grower to consumer. This is a highly visible role within the edible bean division and reports to the Global Vice President of ADM Wholesome Foods Ingredients based in Decatur, IL.

Job Responsibilities:

    Daily Responsibilities
    • Serves as the commercial business expert for the western region and leads a team of direct reports to achieve dry bean origination and agronomy goals
    • Leads regional alignment between the day-to-day execution of origination, commercial and operations activities
    • Executes business plans that develop growth targets and manages profit, productivity and results
    • Designs and implements grower contracts and strategies to expand grower origination in coordination with seed and commercial acreage goals
    • Coordinates raw material inventory levels and logistics between origination, sales and processing
    • Coordinates order processing and execution commercial, operations and customer support
    • Coordinates regional rail and truck logistics needs for intracompany and customer needs with operations, commercial, the railroad, customers and other 3rd parties as required
    • Assists or leads ad hoc projects to develop or advance strategic goals
    • Collaborates with state regulatory agencies as needed to maintain seed and other professional license requirements
    • Resolves ambiguous ad hoc issues to ensure grower, customer, and regulatory satisfaction
      Required Skills:
      • Exceptional networking capabilities and a strong desire to exceed expectations, works with a sense of urgency
      • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
      • Ability to cultivate and maintain positive working relationships with people at all levels inside and outside of the organization

      • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and maintain flexibility while achieving organizational goals in a fast-paced environment
      • Proficient in using Microsoft Office (emphasis in excel and PPT) to be able to transform data into summarized, actionable insights
        Required Experience:
        • At least 10 years' experience working in the seed industry - dry beans, grain, peas, lentils, wheat, corn, soybeans, etc.
        • Trait and seed knowledge and experience in general agronomics, pest management, and plant physiology
        • Demonstrated history of increasing responsibility with direct reports
        • Familiarity in plant operations, including rail, truck, and container logistics, production and inventory management
        • Willingness to relocate
          Physical Requirements:
          • Able to meet physical requirements of the position including, but not limited to: prolonged periods of standing and sitting, working in confined spaces and from heights, bending, kneeling, climbing stairs and ladders, working in a variety of conditions (heat, cold, dust, etc.), move up to 50 pounds, as well as the ability to wear a respirator
          • Regional travel will be a regular part of this position's responsibility. Travel frequency will be dependent on weekly priorities
