Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Job Specialty: Medical Surgical Job Duration: 26 Weeks Shift: 12H Nights Guaranteed Hours: 36 Hours per Week Experience: Minimum of 1 Year License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS Must-Have: Experience with post-operative surgical patients Job Description: - Work in a Medical Surgical unit with a focus on both surgical and medical patients. - Manage a variety of patients including those recovering from surgeries such as total joints, appendectomies, cholecystectomies, and simple back surgeries. - Care for patients with medical and cardiopulmonary conditions such as CHF, COPD, pneumonia, COVID-19, dementia, and psychological conditions. - Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:5. - Utilize CPAP, and coordinate the transfer of High Flow and BiPAP patients to appropriate care units when necessary. - Collaborate with an on-shift charge nurse, resource nurse, and med/surg crisis nurse. - Work with CNAs with a ratio of 1 CNA to 8 patients. - Responsible for reading and interpreting telemetry, with support available from charge or resource nurses. - Participate in a team-oriented environment with shifts scheduled from 7 PM to 7 AM. - Expected to work weekends and holidays as needed. - No self-scheduling is available, but efforts will be made to accommodate schedule requests. - Flexibility to float to other medical-surgical floors is required. - Attend general and unit-specific orientation, including 24 hours of orientation and one shift on the unit. - Work within dress code requirements, wearing navy blue scrubs. - Utilize the Epic Systems Corporation - EpicCare Inpatient EMR for charting. - Adhere to the facility's policies and procedures to deliver high-quality care.
