Emergency Department for a travel nursing job in Twin Falls, Idaho.

card and references Unit Notes Unit: ER/ED Trauma Level: Level 3
Trauma STEMI Receiving: Yes Stroke Center: Yes Description: Highly
organized team with a focus on high reliability, customer service,
and zero harm. Expectations toward these measures are supported by
leader representation sharing examples and improvement
opportunities. Beds/Trauma Bays: - 25 Beds (2.5 Zones) - 3 Triage
Rooms - 3 Trauma Bays - Hazmat Shower and Flood Tent available for
mass casualty events Fast Track: - 4 Rooms perpendicular to the ER
space, sometimes utilized as Fast Track - No LPNs in this ED Triage
Area: - 3 Separate Triage Rooms - Travelers are allowed/required to
perform triage Holding Area: - ER holds intermixed throughout the
ER - Average wait time: 90 minutes from admission order to
inpatient transfer - Maximum hold time: 4-8 hours (typically
pediatric and psychiatric patients) - Pediatric patients admitted
to a 10-bed inpatient unit; higher acuity patients are transferred
out Psych/Seclusion Rooms: - 2 designated “safer” rooms -
Additional rooms available as needed throughout the ER Security: -
In-house 24/7 - Located within the ER Patient Volume: -
Approximately 109 patients treated per day Nurse:Patient Ratios: -
1:4 - Staffing Goal: Designated zones (8 rooms) staffed with 3 RNs
and 1 CNA per zone Required Certifications: - BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC
- ENPC preferred Common Diagnoses/Types of Patients: - Abdominal
pain, diabetes mellitus, hypertension, STEMIs, NSTEMIs, stroke,
prioritized traumas, and more Experience Requirements: - Must have
at least 1 year of ER experience - Must have trauma experience
(e.g., motor vehicle accidents, gunshot wounds, stabbings) - Must
have triage experience - Preferred: Trauma bay experience and Epic
EMR experience (please note if absent) - No first-time travelers;
must have successfully completed 2-3 travel assignments Common
Drips: - Ability to titrate all critical drips and procedural
sedation for adults and pediatrics - Understanding of drips
requiring filter tubing and management of blood products via rapid
infuser ED Physicians/Mid-Levels: - 1-4 Physicians plus PAs and NPs
- No designated pediatric physician Charge Nurse/House Supervisor:
- 1 charge nurse per shift - May take patient assignment,
especially during night shifts Nurse Aides/EMTs/Paramedics/Patient
Sitters: - 1 CNA per zone - CNAs may float throughout the ER to
assist where needed - Duties include 12-lead EKGs, departmental
support, and provider assistance Pharmacist: - Typically 12 hours
per day (approx. 9 AM – 9 PM) - Pharmacy designated to ER for 12
hours daily Respiratory Therapy (RT): - RT available 24/7 -
Performs ABGs, breathing treatments, and EKGs - RT equipment
includes vents, CPAP, BiPAP, Airvo/Optiflow - RNs are required to
troubleshoot equipment but not manage therapy directly Monitor
Techs: - Not present in ER - RNs responsible for reading and
interpreting telemetry strips eekend Requirements: - Every other
weekend, typically less if using the template Imaging: - X-Ray and
CT adjacent to the ER - Transport available, but RNs expected to
transport acute patients Phlebotomy: - RNs perform blood draws
during IV starts - Phlebotomy available 24/7 upon request for lab
draws Holiday Requirements: - May be included in holiday rotation
Call/Standby: - Possible call duties with callback pay available
(rate depends on contract) Floating: - Not required, but may be
asked to float for tasks if needed Dress Code: - Navy Blue scrubs
Orientation: - 1-2 days with preceptor - Includes leader rounding,
chart reviews, and feedback Additional Notes: - Maximum of 5 days
RTO per contract - Prefer traveler full-time scheduling around RTO
