Unit Overview Type: Labor & Delivery / Postpartum (Mother-Baby) Trauma Level: III Charting: Epic (EpicCare Inpatient) ? Unit Details L&D Rooms: 11 (also used for triage) ORs for C-Sections: 2 2 PACU bays Triage Rooms: 2 (see 4–5 patients/day) Postpartum Beds: 17 Births: 5–6 per day (150–180 per month) NICU: Level III (30 weeks; under 30 weeks stabilized and transferred) ???? Staffing Ratios (AWHONN): Intrapartum 1:1 Antepartum 1:1–3 Postpartum 1:3–4 Charge Nurse: No assignment unless needed Resource Nurse: Helps with triage and deliveries ? Certifications BLS, ACLS, NRP AWHONN Intermediate/Advanced or NCC Fetal Monitoring ? Experience 2 years L&D (some Postpartum) Must circulate C-sections High-risk experience required No Critical Access–only backgrounds Epic experience preferred (note last use) First-time travelers accepted ? Drips RNs titrate Pitocin, Mag, Insulin (training available for Insulin gtt) ? Support Staff CSTs 24/7 CNAs in PP (vitals, ADLs, glucose, etc.) OB: In-house days, on-call nights Neo: In-house days, APP nights CRNA 24/7 RT 24/7 ? Monitoring Tele Techs in-house RNs recognize basic rhythms Fetal monitoring via Epic CPN & GE Connect ? Scheduling Shifts: 7a–7p / 7p–7a Schedule made every 6 weeks May consider block scheduling Max 5 shifts in a row EOW & holiday rotation required Float between L&D and PP/MB; sitter shifts possible ? Dress Code RNs: Navy Blue CNAs: Maroon ?
