Oncology Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Oncology
Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Monday to Friday Hours per Shift: 8 hours
Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience required License:
Required Certifications: BLS ONS Chemotherapy Biotherapy Provider
Card OCN certification is a plus Must-Have: Proficient with IV
starts, central lines, accessing ports, and chemotherapy
administration Experience providing patient education Prior
infusion clinic experience preferred Will consider candidates with
1 year of infusion clinic experience plus 1 year of oncology
experience or 1-2 years of inpatient oncology experience Open to
first-time travelers with 3 years of prior experience Description:
Department serves patients in oncology and hematology. The clinic
is a general oncology clinic, not specializing in transplants or
pediatrics. The average number of patient encounters is 8-10 per
nurse per day, with 4-6 individual patients. Team includes
full-time medical oncologists and advanced practice providers, as
well as radiation oncologists. Staff includes a charge nurse who
oversees the unit. Core staffing includes CNAs and CMAs, based on
patient volumes. Daily responsibilities involve assessments,
vascular access, administering chemotherapy, and lab draws. Staff
assists in maintaining a clean and organized area and ensures
patient schedules are clear. Common IV medications include IVIG and
Rituxan. Shifts are Monday to Friday, with rotating start times
between 7:00 AM and 9:00 AM. No weekend or holiday shifts are
required. Floating within the clinic may occur for those with
extensive oncology experience. Dress code requires navy blue scrubs
and closed-toe shoes; nail polish is not permitted. Traveling staff
report a positive team environment and may transition to permanent
roles. Facility has access to essential support teams if needed.
