Position OverviewThe Patient Safety Specialist supports and
facilitates the implementation of patient safety programs across
Home and Community Based Services throughout the St. Luke's Health
System. This role is integral in assessing safety events,
supporting safety program initiatives, and collaborating with
stakeholders to enhance patient safety practices.What you can
expect
- Position Type: Full-Time, Exempt/Salaried
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, typically 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (may
have some flexibility with the hours); No weekends or holidays
- Location: Supports Home and Community Based Services throughout
the system (Magic Valley, Treasure Valley, McCall and Mountain
Home)
- Travel: May include some travel to the above mentioned
locations.
- Event Assessment: Assess reported safety events or risks,
facilitate analysis, and recommend appropriate interventions to
improve patient safety.
- Program Support: Assist in the implementation of system-wide
patient safety programs, collaborating closely with stakeholders
across the organization.
- Documentation and Reporting: Prepare detailed reports on
patient safety activities, including distribution of key findings
to stakeholders.
- Debriefs and Root Cause Analysis: Facilitate patient safety
debriefs, lead safety survey activities, and support root cause
analysis processes to identify and mitigate risks.
- Data Analysis: Use data systems to identify trends, track
safety performance, and uncover opportunities for improvement.
- Clinical Knowledge Application: When applicable, apply clinical
knowledge to support program goals and address patient safety
opportunities.
- Education and Training: Support the development and
presentation of educational programs on patient safety to enhance
awareness and compliance among staff.
- Problem Solving: Apply patient safety principles and
methodologies to address basic safety issues; escalate complex
issues to more experienced team members as necessary.
- Collaboration: Work closely with leadership and team members to
review events and improve safety protocols. Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree required preferably in healthcare,
nursing, or related field; or experience in lieu of degree
- Experience: Clinical, patient safety, or quality related
experience highly preferred. Knowledge of patient safety
principles, methodologies, and relevant systems is helpful.
- Skills: Strong communication skills, attention to detail,
ability to collaborate across departments, and aptitude for using
