Job SummaryThis position plays a key role in the development of our flavor business for Glanbia Nutritionals and will support the application scientists at Glanbia's Twin Falls R&D center. This role drives efficiency and requires a keen sense of commercial viability, organization skill and can-do attitude. Knowledge of IP management and strategic development and marketing is a plus. This role is a key link between supporting existing business and developing future growth. Essential FunctionsCreate new and innovative flavor profiles to fit end application e.g. Formulation of spray dried and plated flavors, flavor emulsions, and flavor extracts.Integrate a thorough technical understanding of flavor raw materials (natural and artificial) into the design, quality, and stability of flavor systems.Must be able to combine Flavor capabilities with applications, specifically RT Beverages, Confectionary, Bakery and Nutritional Bars.Supports the Sales team and Sales activities by providing technical support on site, at shows, product demonstrations, events, customer visits, technical presentations, expos or as needed.Interacts with customers to identify opportunities to expand their core technologies (processes, ingredients, substrates).Successfully transition from bench top prototypes to large scale commercialization in support of global growth initiatives. Understand technical and regulatory roadmaps, hurdles and key challenges.Build cross-functional support when appropriate and develop project plans to drive development and implementation.Work together with the applications group to develop integrated product solutions. Identify, accelerate, execute fast to market flavor approaches to meet project goals and deliver winning taste profiles to consumers.Enters and maintains accurate and thorough formulations and supporting documents.Train and mentor other members of the team to formulate and manufacture flavors, evaluate other flavor manufacturesUnderstand the IP and regulatory frameworks and steer product development in the appropriate direction.Support regions outside the US.Work with cross functional teams including sales, purchasing, quality and production to transition flavors from R&D to production.Manage and drive multiple projects at one time and meet deadlines. Additional FunctionsPerform other duties as assigned. QualificationsMust possess a Bachelor's Degree (Preferred Masters), preferably in a Chemistry or Food ScienceMust be a member of the Society of Flavor Chemist10-15 years direct experience as a Flavor Chemist, preferably with applications within beverage and sweet.Regarded as an Expert in flavor creation with a minimum of 15 years of progressive flavor development experience and an artistic flair for flavor creation and matching. Must have application experienceThe ideal candidate must possess excellent interpersonal communication and relationship building skills and manage cross-functional teamsAbility to use and develop analytical methods such as GC/MS for flavor matchingExperience in IP management and strategy a definite plus.Must possess an analytical approach and be capable of detailed cost analyses with a strong business acumenMust possess the creativity needed to develop opportunities within sector and possess a keen commercial acumen.Must have demonstrably strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to manage cross-functional teams.Must be able to work in a team environment and possess team-based problem solving skills.Must be results focused and oriented toward accomplishment of team goals.Must have project management capability.
